      IT Manager Interview

      Jan 15, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at GitLab

      Interview

Chaotic. I applied on a Tuesday, 24 hours later the assigned recruiter responded and scheduled a Zoom meeting. All good, seemed like they were interested and moving fast. A couple of days later I received an automated email that said thanks for applying, but we're moving in a different direction. I was confused because the meeting we scheduled hadn't been canceled, so I reached out. The recruiter apologized for the automated email and told me we were still on for our meeting. 30 minutes before our scheduled time it was cancelled without any attempt to contact me first. Because the process had been so chaotic up to this point I assumed it was another automation issue, so I sent the recruiter another email. Turns out the hiring manager wasn't interested in talking with more candidates, but the lines of communication were so bad that the recruiter didn't know. The result was a rush to interview me, which was canceled, uncanceled, and canceled again in a week.
