Applied online and a few days later received an email from a recruiter about scheduling a phone interview. I replied back a day or so later with some days and times to chat. I received nothing in response. A week after receiving the initial email to schedule a phone interview, I received the generic 'denial' email, which made no sense. This is tacky and unprofessional on their part, because 1. since it was a generic 'denial' email there were no apologies for being unresponsive and 2. how are you going to send a generic 'denial' email stating that my skills were not a match when the recruiter emailed me stating they were interested in learning more about my skills? And 3. if the position was filled then why not convey that?
This brief experience left a bad impression about this company and how it handles their hiring process...

Question 1
Will you be available for a phone call in the next few days?
I completely agree with you and would also have a bad impression of a company if this was my candidate journey.
I'm truly sorry that this was your experience and want to extend an apology on behalf of the talent team and also Gong.
Not sure who your recruiter was but no excuses, we dropped the ball.
I completely understand if we've lost our chance with you but if you're open to it — I'd love to set up a call to apologize and also unpack your qualifications/opportunities at Gong.
Feel free to shoot me an email or connect with me on LinkedIn.
All the best and thank you for these insights.
Kindly,
Eric Lindroos

Interview
Zoom interview, but I could tell from the beginning there was something, a hard skill, I was missing so they were not really interested. I am not sure what the tool or skill was...
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Gong (Boston, MA)
Interview
Really disappointed with my experience with Gong, I use their product and think it’s great. I didn’t officially apply for the role but was contacted by the recruiter for an exploratory chat. After a couple of questions around my background, the recruiter immediately decided that I should be put forward for a less senior role despite my experience and I didn’t get a chance to ask a few questions and the recruiter said they had to run and could only answer 1.
Although I didn’t officially apply, I received a rejection email which I find insulting especially as this was meant to be an exploratory chat.

Interview
Spent 30 minutes talking to the recruiter, who started the conversation by saying "your current company uses Gong, so I don't have to tell you about us" and then diving into asking me questions. Considering the job market and options that employees have, the lack of even attempting to tell me what's so great about Gong was offsetting. It was almost the attitude of "we're great and I shouldn't have to sell you; everyone should want to work here". I was also asked 3 different times in 30 minutes how many accounts/how much ARR I manage, which made it seem like the recruiter wasn't even paying attention. Set up the next call to meet with the hiring manager, but I ended up canceling because the experience was lackluster.
Thank you for your feedback on your experience with our recruiting team. I am sorry to hear that it was not a great one. I have flagged this to our recruiter -- your feedback helps us improve and I truly appreciate it. Our goal is to create raving fans, including candidates, and we clearly fell short here. We'll do better.
