I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Google DeepMind (London, England)
Interview
Due to my technical background, Deepmind was the obvious go to company and the role seemed pretty cool with Tableu that I have used extensively during MBA and prior and SQL, etc so I applied.
After two months (!?) I get a kind email from HR to book a meeting with the CEO assistant. I asked some feedback about what was interesting in my CV and the answer was the SQL.
The meeting started on time and the person on the other side was empathetic, listened carefully, asked relevant and challenging questions. When it was my turn to ask questions he answered very professionally and was very polite.
He said they would keep in touch "and the next interview would be about SQL".
I spent the entire week prior to the interview studying and reviewing SQL, doing hackerrank challenges, etc.
The day of the interview arrives and 60 minutes prior to the interview, I get an email apologizing but the person was out of the office for that day. It was afternoon so I wonder why they had to wait that long to tell me ...
I was rescheduled with a project manager. Strangely enough, meanwhile I had Project Managers visiting my LinkedIn and it seems they had less experience in projects and less qualifications that I do. I wasn't really impressed but I didn't wanted to judge a book by the cover or by the critics on glassdoor regarding project management office because I _really_ wanted to work there.
The meeting starts and it had nothing to do with SQL (...) and it seems he had made his mind prior to the interview about me: Pointing out things to say I wasn't motivated enough to work there (wtf!?!) and asking some unprofessional/irrelevant questions.
HR rep told me to wait for an answer by the end of the week but went on vacations and when I contacted them got an automated reply followed shortly after by someone saying "my strengths didn't match. Please keep in touch!"
My advice:too many red flags and comments here regarding project management office. Don't waste your time applying..
