I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Grand Canyon Education in Feb 2021
Interview
Low stress, behavioral/situational interview. Asked for specific scenarios that matched what they were looking for. There were two managers in my interview and one seemed to be the overall hiring manager based on his involvement. The question packet was sterile but the hiring manager took over after and really took the time to explain the role in detail- explaining even the 'ugly' details. He said he had been with the company for over 10 years and started in the same role and wanted everyone to know before they started what they were signing up for- I havent seen that kind of honesty and sincerity - he also was able to move between the sterile packet and keep me engaged and want to work there even more. He made it feel like I was being recruited to work for him

Question 1
Standard Interview questions but I liked how the main manager asked what makes my work ethic/results stand out and unique- i appreciated that he seemed to focus on what i can do.
First, I had a phone screen interview, which went well. Then, I didn’t hear anything back for a couple of weeks. Finally, i had a Zoom interview with 3 more hiring managers. One of them was extremely aggressive and completely turned me off. I feel sorry for the people who work for him.
He kept saying “Situation, action, result” over and over again. It was clear that he wasn’t interested in what I had to say; he just wanted to get through his list of pointless, negative questions. It was the worst interview experience I’ve ever had. The other two hiring managers were nice, but this one guy was a nightmare.
