I have never had my time so disrespected by a recruiter.
Here's the events as they happened chronologically:
1). 2 weeks ago, the recruiter reaches out to me about the Operations Analyst role I applied for. He says that he loved speaking with me and would like to move forward with the hiring manager interview.
I have never spoken to this recruiter about this role before, so that was weird.
2). I email him expressing excitement and also correcting him to say we haven't spoken before. I also sent my availibility.
3). He doesn't respond.
4). After a week I follow-up, asking if I was correct in assuming the role was no longer open
5). He responds, saying actually it IS open, and we set an appointment for the next day. He says if he doesn't call me for our interview, for me to call him.
6). He does not call me for our appointment, so I call him.
He is clearly caught off guard: he does not have my resume in front, he does not remember who I am. He asks 2 questions and then rushes me off the phone saying he needs to 'check something' with the hiring team, and can we reschedule for the next day at 10am.
7). He does not call me for our appointment the second day, so once again I call him as requested.
He tells me that he still does not have that information. I told him I was frustrated that he has scheduled an interview with me 2 days in a row, and thinks it's acceptable to leave me hanging for both.
8). I receive an email the next day that I have not made it to the hiring manager interview after-all.
What that bothers me most about this whole awful experience were 2 things:
1). wasting my time and failing to send even a short email to explain his tardiness or lack of care in this whole process.
2). Him never admitting to have made a mistake at MULTIPLE turns.
I am never applying to this company again. Even if this recruiter is a unique case, he disrespected my time so badly I can't actually just grit my teeth and hope I make it through to a hiring manager. What a nightmare, for nothing.
