I started interviewing in September and got rejected in February. Went through two phone interviews and one 4-hour in person interview I bought a plane ticket for. I felt extremely confident about how the interview went, especially since I was given person email addresses from various managers telling me I should contact them because my skills lined up with projects they were working on. I talked to the other candidates (about 60 the day of the in-person interview), and they were all sophomores/juniors while I was a senior with already two internships under my belt. I was willing to settle for an internship right after graduating college because that’s how passionate I was about HCA and the opportunities it offered. Apparently, HCA doesn’t value my time, because two weeks later I received a generic email saying I was rejected: no reason, nothing. Not even from an actual human but a computer-generated message. I guess the MTSU sophomores with business admin majors and no experience offered more than me, but I’m grateful I ended up with a better position at a better company that actually sees me as a person and not a number in the system. I guess the “highly regarded” IT Pathways program is not all they played it up to be.

There was a brief period that HCA accepted applications, maybe a whole week. The first phase was with HR, they used software view the web to prompt a question. The interviewer had 30 seconds to think of a reply and then it would record your response, no do overs. The second phase was with the actual managers in the different departments. It was relaxed but professional. Team work and communication seemed to be the reoccurring theme.
