I applied online. I interviewed at HSBC (Croydon, England) in Nov 2017
Interview
Two tasks were given to complete. One task where you had organise events during the day within different time interval. The other task was a customer role-play scenario. One positive note is that they gave me an immediate decision about the interview outcome. The biggest negative is that for some reason, they wouldn't let me use the toilet. I arrived around 10 minutes before the interview and asked one the staff members if I could use the restroom. They said due to security reasons they wouldn't allow me to use it. I wasn't familiar with the location of the bank so I didn't want to risk being late for the interview. Unfortunately, I had to hold it in and this completely disrupted my interview process. I couldn't concentrate half the time and was very distracted. I should have told the interviewers about my situation but I highly doubt that they would have any sympathy or that would have changed the outcome of the interview.

I applied online. I interviewed at HSBC in Sep 2025
Interview
Zoom meeting to which the interviewers were late. Making odd facial expressions while I gave my answers. They said they would let me know the outcome within the next 2-3 weeks. I waited a month and checked myself and my application was unsuccessful. Very poor form

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at HSBC (Lewisham, England) in Sep 2025
Interview
Went straight from online application to a 1 to 1 interview with the person in charge of all south London branches. Brief getting to know you like why did you apply, how did you get here today then about 7 competency questions.
Should last for an hour, told me after 1st competency question my answers were too short. Try to speak for 5 mins per question using STAR format.
Seemed concerned with my commute time, indicated possibility of successful candidate being placed in a branch closer to their home and that they would have a meet and greet with the actual branch manager to check culture fit as next step. Successful candidate would have been contacted within few days.
Did take a photocopy of passport but didn't check the other documents you're asked to bring to the interview.
