Obtained interview through personal contact as HSBC normally only hires penultimate year interns. I had just finished freshman year in college and was able to complete two rounds of interviews as well as an online assessment because of my personal contact.
As I study abroad, both my interviews were conducted via phone. Almost all the questions were behavioral, and I was asked to respond in both English and Cantonese. They also asked me a few questions tying my personal experiences to the firm's values and who HSBC's competitors were. Overall, the interview was not difficult, but definitely brush up on your Cantonese if it isn't your first language.
