I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Halliburton (College Station, TX) in Jun 2011
Interview
Applied in February through school career services and finally received email to schedule first interview in mid April. Phone interview consisted of the same general questions you will normally be asked. Why Halliburton? Why field engineering? Describe a time when you used your technical skills to solve a problem, Describe a time where you worked on a project with ambiguity. Tell me about a good and bad decision you made in the past year.
Second interview was a 2 day interview in College Station, TX (Location was set for people interested in the Halliburton South Texas district). Only two engineers ran the whole show which started with presentations on the PSLs that had open positions (Fracing, Cementing, Coiled Tubing, Completion Tools). After the presentation they drove us to Caldwell to check out some of their labs and equipment at their district office. We were then taken out to dinner and told interviews would commence 8am the next day. The interview was a 2:1 interview and was the easiest interview I have ever experienced. I was merely asked which PSL and location I wanted and why, what i anticipated being the hardest part during my first year on the job, and will you be alright sleeping in a truck out on location , working crappy hours etc. The next day I was extended an offer through email for the 2nd PSL i picked at my first choice for location.
The engineers that interviewed us were very laid back, humorus, and easy to get along with. Everyone was asked the same interview questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a good and bad decision you have made this year.
There are three days campus recruitment process. Starting from written test in day 1, FGD in day 2, and, short interview in day 3. FGD was pretty casual, you'll be given 15 minutes to discuss a case, and depends on when your turn on presenting is, 1-2 hours to solidate the case outside while waiting for presentation turn. If you pass, you'll get into user interview the next day.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Halliburton in Jun 2025
Interview
After passing the admin screening, I attended the psychometric/aptitude test at UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta. The test was conducted entirely online on our own devices; the venue had weak mobile signal and there was no option to take the test on paper, so a lot of time was lost just connecting and loading questions.
