I applied for VP of Support role, and was contacted for a screening interview. We picked a time and all was confirmed. It was an evening call for me because I was out of the country. I also informed the recruiter that I am in the middle of moving back to the US from Europe with my family and traveling the morning after the interview so he was aware that I accepted the time despite it being extremely busy for me. I just didn’t want to delay things. I prepared for the interview extensively. As I was sitting at my desk awaiting the call, 14 mins before the interview I received a cancelation, and the recruiter informed me that they already have an initial list of candidates and will be holding off talking to more people. There was no empathy in the email and there was no apology about canceling on short notice. It was just a “sorry for not connecting this time”. I have about 22 years of experience in global tech company and this has never happened to me before. I responded professionally, saying it was unfortunate because I already prepared for the call and asked him to let me know if anything changes. I got no response back. This is actually the first time that I ever write a review or share an experience publicly but I felt that I had to.
