After successfully completing two interviews, including a technical assessment, I was happy to progress to the final stage, an interview with the hiring and engineering managers. However, I was surprised to receive a last-minute cancellation notice just one day before the scheduled interview. The explanation given, regarding the appointment of a new CTO and subsequent team restructuring, was understandable. Nonetheless, the abrupt change of plans was unexpected.
I was informed that I would be contacted again in early January (one month later) to reschedule the interview. In the beginning of January, I got an email saying that I would hear back from them by the end of the month (rescheduling wasn't addressed). Unfortunately, it is now the end of February, and I have not received any additional updates or feedback regarding the status of my application, aside from a survey soliciting feedback about the application process.
As someone who invested time and effort into the application process and was led to believe that a final interview would take place, I cannot help but feel disconcerted by the lack of communication and closure. Transparency and open communication are crucial elements in any professional interaction, and I believe that my experience with Handshake does not reflect these values.
