I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Harbor Freight Tools (Houston, TX) in Jan 2019
Interview
Very bizarre/unprofessional process. Initial contact was with the Recruiter. She was positive, knowledgeable and detailed with her screening. She explained the next step would be an interview with the DM who would contact me directly. The following morning (Saturday 8am), a Store Manager from within that district called and asked if I would be available for an interview in 3 hours. When inquiring if this interview would be with the DM, I was told no it would be with him. Unusual as this would have been my peer. Agreed to the interview. This was by far the most unprofessional interview I have ever had. It lasted approximately 12 minutes, two of which were spent on hold. Then another bulk of it was spent repeatedly asking if I would accept an Assistant Manager role. I explained my background as my resume obviously had not been reviewed and firmly declined this. I have been in a big box Store Manager role for nearly 12 years and have never performed an interview in less than 25 min. Is this really how Harbor Freight screens for Store Managers? Needless to say, I am no longer interested in this company.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Harbor Freight Tools (Gilbert, AZ) in Jun 2023
Interview
I was approached by a recruiter on LinkedIn. Scheduling the interview was easy. My interview seemed to go well, I was asked 3 managerial questions otherwise we covered my job history. When the interview concluded, I was given the District managers name and told I would hear from them in 4 days. If I didn't I was to tell the recruiter. I never her from the Dm. Communicated with the recruiter and also never heard back. I did a follow up email a week later and did not get a response. I never received a decline letter either.

Interview
Started with a phone interview, then in person. In person interviewer was rather distant and uninterested from the start. Felt like it was due to my age as he was younger than 3 of my own kids.

Question 1
Cookie cutter ‘tell me about a time’ line of questioning.
It was very personable with a lot of general leadership type questions and situational questions. We talked about the company and the direction it is going. How the leadership engagement is with the staff.
