I applied online. I interviewed at Helen of Troy (New York, NY) in Oct 2023
Interview
The interview process at Helen of Troy was unconventional, utilizing a one-way interview format that required candidates to record their responses to a set of predetermined questions. This approach, in my opinion, lacked the personal touch and engagement that typically accompanies traditional interviews.
While I understand the efficiency considerations behind such a method, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disconnect throughout the process. It seemed as though the company was prioritizing convenience over meaningful interaction with potential candidates. This one-way interview structure, to me, reflected a lack of effort on the part of Helen of Troy to invest time in getting to know applicants on a more personal level.
In my view, a successful interview process involves a two-way conversation where both the candidate and the company have the opportunity to gauge cultural fit, ask questions, and establish a rapport. The one-way interview approach employed by Helen of Troy seemed to fall short in fostering this essential connection.
Considering the importance of hiring decisions and the impact they have on both the company and the individual, I would not recommend this interview format. A more interactive and engaging process could better serve both parties in determining if there is a mutual fit.
