I first applied to Helen of Troy in November 2023. I was asked to complete a HireVu interview. This was my first time completing a digital interview. I found it incredibly awkward and impersonal. I was not contacted again for weeks, and then told the position was being eliminated. I was assured, she still thought Id be a good fit and to apply to a different role, as they just posted so many marketing positions online. So, after going through each of the new postings, I applied to another marketing position. I also responded back to the recruiter and thanked her and let her know which role I went for. Nothing back from her.
About a month later, I was sent a new hirevu request. I once again completed another digital interview. By this time, its January. Once again, zero communication came back from the recruiter, and a month later another email saying this job was being re-structured to a SR level role. If I was still interested, she told me I could apply, and she even sent me the exact link. For the very last time I went ahead and filled out the very long application and submitted. Nothing back.
I know that I have the skill set and experience for the roles I applied to and was given some small amount of hope each time. But the lack of communication, and time wasted truly put a bad taste in my mouth. Do better Helen of Troy. I was so excited about the roles being posted, and feel I was dragged along. This is an incredibly stressful, and tough job market, especially for all the retail employees who were affected by layoffs in the greater Boston area. Show some respect to people who put time and effort into long applications, thoughtful emails and digital interviews.
