I interviewed for the Sales Analyst role at Herc Rentals. The job description focused on responsibilities like sales reporting, Salesforce data entry, account auditing, and strategic sales development. However, it did not mention any tools like SQL or Qlik Sense.
During the phone screen, I was asked about my experience with SQL and BI tools such as Qlik. This caught me off guard because these tools were not listed in the job posting. It felt like the recruiter might have been screening me for another position, possibly a Business Intelligence Developer role I later saw listed. If that was the case, I would have appreciated more transparency about the role and whether they were considering me for a different position.
The recruiter was also 10 minutes late to the call without any notice, which was disappointing. Additionally, the listed salary for the position was capped at around 70K, which felt low for a senior-level role with cross-functional responsibilities.
Advice to Management:
Please be clear and transparent in your job descriptions about the tools and platforms candidates are expected to use. If you are evaluating candidates for multiple roles, communicate that openly and ask if the candidate is interested.
