I had a friend who was a manager at hertz and referred me. I filled out the application and was contacted about 1 week later for a phone screen. I called back to set it up and never heard from the recruiter again. 2-3 weeks pass by and I receive a phone call saying they want me to come in for an in person interview (never did a screen). I go in to interview with the GM. He was very unprofessional, and sloppy. He walked me around the lot and vaguely described the position. He then said he was doing this “interview” as a favor to my friend at the company. He asked me no questions related to my experience. A week later I have a phone interview with a VP. He was very professional and asked some STAR questions. A week after that I received an email saying they had narrowed it down to 2 people and wanted me to come back in for another interview. I go in for this interview with the HR manager, some VP and a manager from Florida. We piled into some closet sized office and they all stood over me as I sat in the only chair in the room. Again, they asked no questions related to the position. The only real
Question the asked was what my salary requirements are, to which I replied and they said they would never come close to that. I said I was open to negotiations as I was interested in the position. This is where it gets good.. The interview ended and they said they would get back with me by the end of the week. I followed up a couple days later. No response. I followed up a week later, HR emails me and says they would have a final answer no later than Friday of that week (this was a Tuesday). I never heard back from them. A company of this size should at least decline to offer the position to you if you’re going to put someone through this much of a process. Hertz seems like a very unprofessional organization with poor leadership.
