I applied for the position with HPE through one of the job boards (Glassdoor, indeed, etc.). I received an email back within a few days from the man who would become my manager. I believe we may have spoken on the phone prior to the in person interview, but I can't remember any details. I came to the Herndon, VA office for my interview. The interview lasted about an hour. I met my other team members briefly. I didn't quite understand what the position was because the job description was not very clear, but I did my best not to let that show. I was given an Excel assessment to complete in order to show my competency level. It was relatively easy. I was offered the job two days later. I did find it interesting after I was hired that there was really no HR representative involved in my interview process. They did not have a recruiter reach out to me. The 3 people I spoke to were all people who worked in my department. None of them had any real experience interviewing or hiring. This was definitely outside of their normal job descriptions. It was all very informal.
