I interviewed with HHMI over a span of nearly three months. I progressed through multiple rounds, qualifying for what was supposed to be the "final step" – the superday. However, after indicating I was ready to proceed, communication stalled. Eventually, I was informed that they had selected another candidate without ever scheduling my final interview. The entire process felt like a significant waste of time and effort. Additionally, the individual I was in contact with repeatedly suggested I withdraw from the process, implying that I might accept offers elsewhere. Instead of supporting my candidacy, they seemed hesitant to schedule the superday, as though waiting for me to drop out on my own. This experience was disappointing and left me feeling as though my time and effort were not valued.
