I applied for the position of Communications Coordinator in September 2025. A week later, I heard from a recruiter and I scheduled an interview the next week. The recruiter was a bit discombobulated during the call, mostly talked about the position, and tried to push me for another position that was remote (this Communications Coordinator position was in Washington, D.C. and while I said I would relocate, it seemed like the recruiter/hiring team wanted someone in the area?). I also learned that this position was not going to begin work until February 2026 and that if I got the offer, it would be a contingent offer based on the premise that ICF would receive the contract. During the call, I told the recruiter I was still interested in the position and she told me she could get me an interview with the hiring manager. I received an automatic rejection email a week later, which kind of sucked especially as the recruiter told me I could make it to the next round and I had interned for ICF last year.
