I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at IHOP in Sep 2016
Interview
It was last year in September that I had my interview with Ihop... I had walked in to get an application, and found out, which actually turned in my favor they had open interviews every Tuesday and Thursday. I wasn't told, though, that the application had to be done online, but rather that I had to send my resume to the GM.
I had went that coming Tuesday and there was a total of 5 people waiting, the manager who did the interview made us wait over an hour, after said interviews were supposed to begin, before even coming out to introduce herself. I was the fourth person to do an interview. While waiting I had noticed some interviews went surprisingly quick or took quite a long time. Anyways, when it was my turn we went and sat at a regular booth towards the back so it didn't disturb either the workers or the customers. She asked if I had any previous restaurant/serving experience. Then proceeded to ask what I would do step by step to begin a shift. All in all once giving previous employment history all the interview was was her stating the job requirements and duties and asking if I was able and/or willing to do the duties she said. Of course I was more than willing & I was hired on the spot. Since I was unaware that I had to do a job application online, in order to be hired I had to do the app. That same evening and come back before 10pm to give them id, social security card etc. I started the following week.
Easy interview, assuming this wouldn’t be your first job interview. Overall, if you are prepared to answer question regarding situations and how you’d handle them, you’ll be fine. Be yourself and show your personality.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would I handle a situation with an angry or unsatisfied customer
Literally just started signing papers, no interview. Managers name was Dante. He was a cool guy. I knew Dante was going places. He is a funny dude and great manager but he’s prob not working there anymore
This was a very basic and easy interview. All you need to do is to look presentable and make sure to utilize the STAR method. If you do this, you should be good to go.
