After a series of 4 phone calls I was invited onsite. 12 hours before the onsite meeting they told me they were canceling the interview because the team would be working from home moving forward. I asked if it could be done virtually instead of rescheduling and they obliged, getting back to me at 10 pm the night before the 8:30 am interviews.
It was 4 hours of one on one interviews where each person asked the same questions. It should have been simplified to a panel. One of the Managers barely looked at the camera and was distracted the whole time while talking with me.
After that were 2 presentations: passion project and mock sales call
Everything went well until the mock sales call. I understood the prompt and did extensive research on the company and products beforehand. After 15 minutes or so they started asking questions that I'm not sure a candidate would know outside of taking their training program. It felt like they were trying to embarrass me. I self selected out and told them it wasn't a good fit.
My advice would be don't advertise for a sales rep if what you really want is a scientist.
Very technical interview and they expect you to know their technology inside and out. Tech specs on various kits, devices, and data output. Got to meet with basically the entire inside team which took several hours but felt like a thorough picture of all the personalities involved.
I applied online. I interviewed at Illumina (San Diego, CA) in Jun 2022
Interview
Illumina reached out with a generic email that my resume was selected and that I was going to receive a link for a HireVue interview. I conducted the HireVue interview and had no way of contacting the recruiter or anyone at Illumina for feedback or for the next steps. Additionally, I found it a bit hard to prepare for a HireVue interview when I had never spoken to the recruiter to learn more about the role.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Illumina (San Diego, CA) in Nov 2021
Interview
Very long and all day interviews with sales presentations . Interviews were well prepare with diverse questions. Recruiters were very helpful and organized during the process. The sales presentation was difficult because we were not given a briefing on the products and we were asked live questions that have answers that are no publicly available on the website
