I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Instacart in Sep 2021
Interview
Had an introductory call with a recruiter and another call with the hiring manager. Interviews happened weeks apart, and communication was slow (ie they didn’t seem to be in a hurry to fill the role.)
Was provided a data challenge (excel scenario and presentation) to complete in 48 hours and I was promised feedback in two business days. I received nothing for 7 business days until I followed up with the recruiter, who then sent me a rejection note. They also again offered to solicit feedback on my data challenge (if I wanted it), and though I confirmed that I would appreciate the feedback, I heard nothing from them again.
Overall, the experience was invalidating and I would not apply to this company again.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you had to use data to drive your decision-making
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Instacart
Interview
Applied online and was contacted the next week by email to set up a time for a phone interview. The interviewer rescheduled twice and did not contact me at the designated day/time we confirmed. Emails went unanswered. Unresponsive at this point. Very disappointed with their lack of communication. My guess is they are no longer interested in interviewing me, but at least tell me instead of leaving me hanging.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Instacart (Washington, DC) in Oct 2018
Interview
1. Super easy HR phone call to get to know you
*** This is the part of review you actually care about***
2. Technical case study is sent to you solving the problem requires pivots tables, pivot charts and you should make 5 point suggestion and your findings. The Bonus section wants SQL
The whole thing is a fraud. Instacart send you real data and problems and they ask you to solve their problems with nothing returned. Zero return on your investment. You are essentially a free external consultant. And if your ideas and Data look good they will use it and you get nothing out if it.
They essentially just use people who apply to the role get their ideas and analysis and give nothing back.
No matter how well you respond they will nix you but keep your answers. You will feel used after doing this. If you have ever done a case study you will know what it is like.
you are given 24 hours to do the analysis. I suggest doing it faster the allotted time.
