I walked in to J. Crew and asked if there were any open positions or applications available. I was given an application, but was told to complete it outside. After turning in my application, I was asked by the manager to attend a group interview, which took place in a location outside the store. There were seven other candidates with me. The manager met us, spoke about how the position was part time, and that the position should be seen as supplemental income - not to pay bills or rent or anything serious like that. Hours could not be guaranteed, but as long as a candidate was available one was likely to get scheduled. Simple questions were asked of each person, going in order from one side of the table to the other, such as "Why do you want to work for J. Crew?" and "Describe a time you provided good customer service for someone." After the group interview, I met with the Store manager, who asked me the same questions, and had some additional questions based on my resume. Shortly after I was called and was offered a position in sales.
