I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at JCPenney (Niles, OH) in Sep 2012
Interview
The interview process was fairly easy. I was hired around holiday day as a seasonal worker. I spoke to one person and the questions were pretty standard for an interview. Before I left the office, I had the job. She gave me a paper with my new department and my training date. It also helped that I can in polished and professional. When going into the interview, make sure you're dressed business casual, which is the dress code. The interviewing manager said she liked my look.
The training was not very helpful at all. We watched videos and did a POS program on the computer. However when we actually got onto the floor, it was like we had to be trained all over again by veteran associates.

It was fairly straightforward and easy. The woman I interviewed with was nice and not very intimidating. They took about a week to get back with me about an interview after I applied for the position.

Interview
I was contacted by email about my application. Contacted HR Supervisor and scheduled an interview date and time. Met with HR the next day for an in person interview. Very informative conversation with HR Supervisor.
Very efficient and the interviewer was very nice and gave me a lot of time to answer questions. The questions were not hard and they were very manageable. It was more so a discussion rather than an interview.
