I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at JCPenney (North Aurora, IL) in Aug 2013
Interview
I applied online. I went in to the store a week later to follow up. the hiring manager wasn't there but they told me she would be in tomorrow and to call then. They gave me the phone number but didn't take my name and number. I called her the next day and we set up an interview for that day. it was a group interview with 2 other people. at the interview we spent about 5 minutes talking about ourselves, answering the 'tell me about yourself question". Then we discussed possible new ideas for JCP and what we thought would work well and and what would fail. Then we played a game with blocks. this is to prove that we can work as a team. one person was the leader who got to look at a picture and describe how to build the tower to the other two. really simple. I got a call an hour later with an offer for a cashier position. just be yourself and you'll do great!
Easy, got hired in 1 week and was able to start as soon as possible. It was a good process and I liked the people I interviewed with. The culture is off to a positive start.
The interview process begins with an initial screening to review qualifications and experience. Selected candidates then participate in one or more interviews with the hiring team, which may include behavioral and role-specific questions. Final candidates may be asked to complete an assessment or meet with senior stakeholders before a hiring decision is made. Candidates are kept informed throughout the process.
