The process started with a recruiter screen, followed by two phone interviews focused on probability puzzles, expected value problems, and logic games. Each round built on the previous, with interviewers probing my reasoning and encouraging me to explain my thought process clearly. After that, I was invited to a final “onsite” round (virtual in my case) that consisted of several back-to-back interviews. These included progressively more challenging probability and strategy questions, sometimes framed as betting games, along with some behavioral questions about teamwork and decision-making. The process was challenging but collaborative—interviewers cared less about memorized formulas and more about clear reasoning, adaptability, and how you approached uncertainty.

Question 1
You flip a fair coin until you get heads. What is the expected number of flips?
online assessment and video call interview, asking probability and expected value type questions. pretty straightforward. The questions are quite difficult but interviewer is very kind and happy to work through questions with you

Question 1
Imagine you have a 9-sided die, you get points corresponding to the face of the die after rolling, however, rolling a 9 ends the game and gives score of 0. what is your expected value of the game, how would you play?
I applied online. I interviewed at Jane Street (London, England) in Jan 2026
Interview
I did an interview in January. The interviewer was very nice and asked some probability questions. I answered the questions correctly but stumbled a bit. I didn't get a follow up interview.

Question 1
The interview question was a probability problem, asking if 100 people are in the line and another line opens up, what should be my strategy. The follow up question was whether the answer was realistic and what would differ in the real world (and not assuing everyone makes decisions based on probability).
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Jane Street (New York, NY)
Interview
stats questions—typical coin tossing games, probablility questions associated with it. very hard and did not pass the second round. not sure if i have a new shot. the recruiters are very nice though.
