Received phone call quickly after applying. Was given a quick overview of the position, then told I would need to take two HackerRank tests, both of which were 1 hour 45 minutes, making it 3.5 hours of my time. I was a bit hesitant of the commitment, but forged ahead.
The Front-End test had over 25 questions with several coding/database queries. Back-End was about the same, but more coding/database exercises. The questions that were "easy" were essentially medium, whereas the "medium" ones were exceptionally hard.
I understand you need to test candidates on their knowledge, but 3.5 hours of testing before an interview is quite much. If you're fresh out of college with a CS degree, you might do ok. Stuff that I was tested on are situations that I've rarely, if ever, used in my day-to-day life as a software engineer.
Adding insult to injury is that after doing this, like another interviewee who posted, I was ghosted completely.
