I was contacted by JCI's recruiters initially through LinkedIn for a position that urgently needed to be filled. It seemed interesting from a technical perspective so I responded. I was at working full-time at a company. They contacted me multiple times, sometimes during work hours. The position was out of state, but I finally accepted to do a phone interview with the engineering manager, Interview went well and they wanted me for an on-site. I agreed to take time off work to do the interview but it was a 6 hour drive plus overnight stay at a hotel. I thought my interview went pretty well. It was mostly a technical interview plus some clarifications about my experiences. I got a tour of the facilities and interviewed a couple of other people in addition to HR. I was not crazy about the location. Couple of weeks later, I was finally notified that they were proceeding with a different candidate. I was not surprised because I think they could tell that I didn't like the location of the plant. However, I am annoyed that after contacting the recruiters multiple times, they never responded to my requests to be reimbursed for my hotel fees. I am shocked that a formerly fortune 500 company treats its candidates this way. The manager was clear that I would be reimbursed, but the recruiters have ghosted me despite multiple attempts.
