I applied online. The recruiter got back to me pretty quickly with a coding exercise online which was timed for 30 minutes. I was able to pass every test case except for one since the instructions did not clearly specify how to handle that certain test case. However, they liked my solution but then it took them a really long time to get back to me, around 2-3 weeks or so. I had to keep emailing them in order to hear back. Then I was told that I could interview with an engineer who was on the team and this was on the phone. I spoke with the SDET on the phone, and he seemed to really like all my answers and I felt really good about the interview. I explained everything in great detail.
HOWEVER, even after all that, I was not moved forward. The excuse was "I don't have enough experience working as an SDET in mobile. Then I wondered....why was I considered for the position and keeping my hopes up that I could land here? First off the position did not say anything much about mobile testing and I was told that later. Even if it was, people should have an opportunity to learn and grow as engineers and leaders. I never had the vibe that I was not going to be considered for the position, because I answered everything very well and the SDET really liked my answers and my background. I had to send another email about hearing next steps and was then told that I "don't have enough mobile experience". It was very unprofessional and I was very disappointed. If I didn't have experience in mobile testing, Kabbage should have let me know from the beginning. I was never even asked any questions regarding mobile testing in any of my interviews.
