I was contacted for a phone call with someone of this position. We discussed the day-to-day aspects of the job, what to expect, etc. It was a fairly simple phone call interview.
I was then invited for a in-person interview where I was to meet with two people from the department and hold a presentation about a topic of my choice that would show off my analytical skills. The day of the interview, there was no one at the front desk so I had to wait about 10 minutes until I could begin the interview.
The first person who interviewed me was fine, we spent a good portion of our time discussing this role and how the department played into the company's overall work. I was asked about my current position, what kind of skills I wanted to work on, what I hoped my career would look like, etc.
The second person to interview me, came with data set on excel. I was asked to perform certain skills, such as manipulating this data to show which states could benefit from X amount of advertising. The interviewer explained to me what kind of data sets we would be looking at and it was very clear that this position was meant for someone with a media planning background, which I did not have.
Finally, there was the presentation, it was about 5 minutes and in front of 4 people. It was fairly easy, but they were not too familiar with this topic, so they began to ask vague/general questions, leading to them asking questions that were further and further away from my topic. For example, if my presentation was about c-level executives, they would ask about the marketing department.
Overall, it was a fairly easy interview. I did not receive an offer.
