I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Kimley-Horn (Austin, TX) in Oct 2010
Interview
Interview process was interesting. Started by developing a personal business plan on where I could be most successful. The profit sharing, bonus, path to ownership, etc. was the most eye opening discussion.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Help us identify the clients that you expect to serve if we hire you, along with the type of projects they work on, the amount spent on engineering work for those projects, and how much work you could expect to win from those clients over the next five years.
I had a phone interview and an in person interview. The interviewers were very friendly and the interviews did not feel too intense. A lot of the interview questions were geared towards explaining the projects from my resume.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Kimley-Horn (Sacramento, CA) in Dec 2020
Interview
Over the phone interview with Human Resources. I was asked basic questions to get to know my work experience and my extracurricular activities. The interviewer was nice but never followed up through email.
I applied through college or university. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Kimley-Horn (Oakland, CA) in Feb 2019
Interview
HR was extremely disorganized. Had a 30min on-campus interview, which turned out well and HR gave me a 30min call later to re-confirm what I'm interested in. I was then scheduled to have a 45min phone interview with the transportation group I'd be working with, which went smoothly. The whole interview process took several months involving many hiccups with the HR.
Heard nothing back for ages and when I emailed to follow up, they said their hiring needs have changed.
Another friend interviewed with them and the HR messed up her flights, and booked a date that the interviewers would not be free, and cancelled the interview the day before my friend was going to fly out.
