Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants interview questions

Typically if one is interested in working for Kimpton they can find the job either online or through the Kimpton job site. Not being an HR manager I do not know what they are looking for in terms of a resume, however experience never hurts. The job process has become more strict over the years. Currently one must go through many sets of interviews before obtaining a job on the hotel side of the property. First a telephone conversation. Then a meet and sit down with one front desk assistant manager, then a second. If both like the prospect, then a meeting with the front desk manager occurs. If that is okay then a meeting with the Hotel manager happens, followed by either a decision or a meeting with the general manager. Overall a very tedious process for a job that typically doesn't require so much.

Overall, application and interview process seemed hurried and disorganized. I applied through HCareers (side note- HCarreers website formatting is horrible!). I was very excited when I was contacted via email in just a few short days following my submission. While the email communications setting up the interview were terse (bordering on a tad sloppy on their part), I chalked it up to the them being super busy- totally understandable! Upon my arrival I was greeted by a busy and disinterested manager, who led me to an event room that was set up with lecture style seating- no tables. It was clear that in addition to interviewing, the manager was still actively managing, and several times throughout the interview he paused to take radio calls, which was quite distracting, and admist the radio calls he would loose his train of thought. It was obvious that he simply didn't like the looks of me, or they had already decided on a candidate, as despite my enthusiasm, and eye contact, I could hardly get him to engage with me. I was enthusiastic and very well prepared- perhaps too prepared. I suppose the informality was a bit of a shock...
