I was called by a recruiter from Stefanini Staffing for an IT Support position. I have 9 years of IT experience and the recruiter, impressed with the skills listed on my resume, passed my resume to the hiring manager. The manager requested a phone interview and it was so successful that he decided to extend me an offer. The recruiter told me to expect the offer letter within a few days. Then, the recruiter called me back and said that the employer (Kite Pharma) would like to do a "Meet and Greet" first. This was very suspicious since they already said that I have the job. After the "Meet and Greet" they never called me back. I had to email and text the recruiter a few times before she finally said that they retracted the offer. They said that I wasn't a "culture fit". They only difference between me and them is the color of my skin. There were absolute no people of color in their office. Nowadays, it is perfectly ok to be prejudice. People now turn a blind eye to all sorts of injustice and only advocate for certain groups (LGBTQ) while others get the negative effects for systematic racism, classism, and sexism.
