      Store Management Interview

      Sep 10, 2015

      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Kohl's (Detroit, MI) in Mar 2015

      Interview

At the time of the interview I was only in my second year at a small university. They were more looking for students in their senior year so Kohls could start them right into the MIT (management in training) program. Overall the interview went great. Initial interview was with the local store manager and a regional manager with general interview questions. I got called back for a second interview and during the second stage they put us in a room with 5 potential candidates and gave us problems that the store will usually see (product placement, disgruntled employees, ect). Let us come up with a solution to the problems and present them back to the two interviewers. ADVICE: Take the initiative in the meeting and be the one to lead with presenting the solution back to them. They are looking for leadership. Then another round of general interview questions with only one person this time. He knew I was still young and wasn't going to get the position so throughout that interview he was helping me with how I should respond to different questions.

      Interview

The whole process was very rewarding and the Kohl's talent office connected me with multiple people who had done the internship previously, which made the process much less intimidating and made it clear what would be happening day-to-day.
