      Overnight Stocker Or Meats Interview

      Jun 2, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Henderson, NV
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Kroger (Henderson, NV) in Jun 2016

      Interview

First you get a call from HR and do a thorough phone interview real basic questions like tell me about yourself, experience, and why you want to work for a grocery store. I did the interview and passed got to meet with a hiring manager in store interview. Interview went great but she did just come back from vacation and the position was already filled internally understand that situation. The hiring manager really liked me and the guy before me and told me she would call me back same day if she was able to find a position other than baggage which is less than minimum wage. Got a call about 2-3 hours later and missed the call due to driving to other interviews. Tried calling the store back at the customer service and rang for 3Minutes till I hung up. I went to the store instead and the hiring manager was in the process hiring a new member no biggy. After she brought me in to talk with another hiring manager and this is where it got interesting. I talked with the other manager and was very upset due to the fact I have my resume that shows I have retail sales experience in the automotive and cell phone business. The other hiring then told me they hire to get your foot in the door so start off as bagger which is less than minimum wage and I understand when she told me I have no grocery experience but when she had the nerve to tell me I have none experience in retail that's why I'm making this review. It shows on my resume paper in front of her that I have 2-3Years in the retail business I may be young but I am motivated to do my work and am very dedicated to the jobs I do. I'm 21 and have been working since junior year in high school as well as train new employees and even the new manager. To tell me I have no experience in retail was an insult I know how to treat customers with care and be able to build rapport with customers. I kept it to myself and declined the baggage offer and wanted to storm out. The hiring manager who first interviewed me stopped in the hallway brought me to her office and was very nice and said don't be discouraged and that is how the company hires and promotes internally I understand that. She said that she will keep in touch with me and that with my experience I should try to look for something more and I really would like to say she made my interview process so much better Zoe Baker you are the best. Even though I may not take an offer for smiths anymore no matter the position due to the second hiring manager it is a good gateway for people in school to get experience. You have to start somewhere to build experience and gain knowledge of working. Smiths is a good company due to benefits. Pay is low but good for people in school or freshly graduated good luck on the process everyone.
