I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at LaunchDarkly
Interview
This was very professional. I interviewed with a man named Taek Yun. He was timely, transparent, direct, tactful and informative. It was a very good first impression to have of an organization and its culture. I feel recruiters are the door to an organization and how they conduct themselves and represent themselves as well as treat potential candidates speaks volumes about what it would be like to work there. Taek's professionalism hit the nail on the head.

Question 1
Strategic sourcing, specifically around diversity and niche technical skill
It was fairly quick with the first interview in the US and second video interview with a recruiter in the UK. Recruiter in UK seemed disinterested/distracted where she stared at a computer screen next to her and I was talking to the side of her head. Very monotone/cold/rude demeanor and found the entire interview off putting. Felt like ending the interview myself and really didn’t want to finish it. The initial call in the US was very responsive and positive, though, and made me want to move forward right away in the process. Seems like I eluded an awaiting storm.
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at LaunchDarkly (New York, NY)
Interview
I didn’t apply for this role and was a passive candidate. The process started out smoothly with communication and follow ups. However, once the virtual onsite piece began it was basically radio silence. There was no interview prep, no follow ups from the recruiter at all. It took me 2 emails to the coordinator to get the contact information of the folks I I interviewed with to send “thank you” notes to.
I was told I’d hear back by a certain date and two weeks later I heard back with a blanket “we are moving forward with another candidate” email, with some personalization in it in a different font causing the email to look messy.
The director did offer to pass my name along to other companies that were hiring, which was thoughtful and I appreciated.
I just expected more follow up and guidance for a company that touted how important candidate experience was, it was pretty lacking. Candidates put aside 6 plus hours of their time and to hear nothing for weeks should not be the standard. And this isn’t a one off If you read the other interview reviews.
When a company can’t take the time to keep a candidate in the loop, it’s a red flag. Definitely dodged a bullet.
