I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (West Columbia, SC) in Dec 2009
Interview
I filled out an online application. There are the usual personality questions - common sense stuff. Some of them are worded in very tricky ways, though, so be sure to read each one very carefully before choosing a response.
Almost a month later I was called for an interview. Four or five other candidates were there. We took turns waiting to talk to the HR manager, the store manager, then an assistant store manager. They ask basic experience questions, such as "Tell me about a time when you..." Almost another month went by before I was called and asked if I would like the job.

Question 1
I don't remember the exact wording, but the manager basically tried to figure out if I like for everything to be the same routine every day, or if I can handle change and being moved around (to different check-out areas of the store).
The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Denver, NC) in Feb 2026
Interview
The interview was a brief 15-minute discussion of the hours you are available and scenario questions to see if you are a natural problem solver. It was low-stress and I had the chance to ask many of my own questions.

Interview
It was very casual and at the store. I was asked about 10 questions by one of the store managers. I did a drug test at the end of the interview after being offered a position.

What are some of your strengths?
Name a time you faced a challenge in the work place and how you solved it
Very easy people to talk to, don’t need to dress up for a fancy interview. Can wear nice jeans and a top. They ask very obvious open ended questions that is very easy to tell what answer you would like to give them.
