I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Lucid Software (Salt Lake City, UT) in May 2021
Interview
The interviewer was very short with me and did not tell me anything about the company at all or the position during the interview. There was someone sitting on a couch in the background in their home office right behind them while they were interviewing me, and any conversation was very awkward. I felt like I was interrupting a conversation. When I introduced myself in the beginning of the interview and asked how they were doing, the interviewer just shrugged and said they had a bad day. Then at the end they gave me some feedback and ended the interview quickly. I would not ever recommend interviewing with this company, I was so excited about this interview and it ended up being a very discouraging and negative experience. Very little introduction, then around 1.5 hours of coding and 30 seconds of feedback after explaining my code to them.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Similar to what other people have said. I was asked not to share the problems; however, it was two very straightforward algorithm type coding questions and a larger game type of problem to solve. In my opinion, what they tested and the time given to do it was not a very realistic, or a good indicator of anyone's skills as a software engineer. A bit surprising for such a large company.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Lucid Software (Charleston, SC) in Nov 2025
Interview
The interview process starts with a pre-screen interview via CodeSignal involving testing general coding framework skills. This is followed by a virtual coding interview. followed by a final four interviews involving algorithms and class modeling.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
60 minute technical exercise on algorithms (Big-O, optimizations)
60 minute technical exercise on class modeling
I interviewed at Lucid Software (South Jordan, UT)
Interview
The first round was an online coding problem similar to leetcode. The second round was an online interview with a software developer where you code a game for them and the review it with you
The first round was a coding interview, two warm up questions with the last one being a medium (BFS). Second round was much harder questions with design questions towards the end.
