      Field Service Engineer Interview

      Sep 26, 2012
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Lutron Electronics

      Interview

Interviewed with Lutron at a hiring conference hosted by a headhunter organization. First interview at the Hiring Conference was standard "getting to know you" kind of stuff. He asked a lot about my resume and background. The week after the conference I was contacted by a Lutron recruiter and was scheduled for a Skype interview. Skype interview was a bit more in depth regarding my background in electronics. There were circuit diagram type questions as well as random "general knowledge" questions. (What is the population of India? China? The USA? Etc.) The day after the Skype interview, I was invited to Coopersburg, PA for a 'final interview' and tour of the facility. I was also asked to do a Caliper personality assessment. Lutron booked the airfare and scheduled a car to pick me up. The tour was great. The interview process seemed a bit jumbled. I sat in my 'interview room' by myself most of the day with the occasional interviewer stopping by to talk. In all, I talked to seven people (including the head of field services) and took a written test (basic electronics, etc.) during the interview process. A few days after the 'on-site' interview, I received an offer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There was a moderately complex wiring diagram troubleshooting role play exercise. I am not familiar with 120V 3phase power so it was a bit difficult for me until the interviewers sort of walked me through how the phases work out.
