An internal recruiter contacted me for this role. She was communicative and on-point, and she set expectations very well.
The process was pretty usual, although 12 interviews for a director position seemed a bit excessive. All 12 meetings went well, I enjoyed the conversations, and I was willing to consider joining their team. They mentioned they wanted to make an offer, and the last step was a final meeting with the executive responsible for this LOB.
I felt a level of condescension and dismissiveness I had never experienced in a professional setting immediately upon joining the video call. It’s hard to put it into words because it wasn’t what was said; it was how. I felt he was looking down on me, and I sensed a strong gender bias for the first time in my 15-year career. I came out of the meeting feeling insulted, and I withdrew my candidacy minutes after that call. Interviews are a two-way street, and the candidate is assessing the company and the people s/he’ll be working with as well; maybe something for Lytx to remember, or at least for this individual.
