I got a call from HR where we discussed my skill set, and they scheduled an interview. The first round was a video call on Microsoft Teams for an hour. On the day of the interview, the panel asked me to rate myself on a scale of 1 to 10 regarding my programming languages and tools. Before I could provide my rating, it felt like he was assessing my suitability and suggested I could opt out of the interview if I didn’t think I would meet his expectations. He emphasized the strength of his team and expressed concern about whether I could compete with them, warning me that I might receive negative feedback from the team. Which clearly shows they don't encourage people for upskilling. Additionally, he mentioned that the second round would require me to travel to the office, which is quite far from the city. There seemed to be a lack of coordination between the interview panel and HR. Overall, this experience made me feel unwelcome, and I would not recommend this organization feels like toxic work environment.
