- Initial phone interview
- In person interview took an entire day. Met with hiring manager 1 on 1. Then with members of project teams you would most likely be working with 1 on 1. Then I was told to solve a hypothetical problem, left alone in a room for about 30 minutes. Then I had a panel interview with SMEs from different disciplines.
-Everyone I spoke to had at least a masters, many doctorates or working on doctorates. In fact, several said they came there for the support and free time to complete their doctorates and were then planning to move on.
-Several mentioned that there was no room for advancement. The only way to advance was to "boomerang" (leave and then come back),...and that there were many "boomerangs".
-Many said their favorite thing was the lack of stress, long hours, and the work/life balance...especially those coming from the private sector who said they came there seeking refuge from a perceived lack of work/life balance.
-Many cited the benefits as the second best thing. Campus facilities, daycare, work from home, and the pension plan which minted many "Mitrenairs" (people having over a million dollars in their pension plan)
