I was already a contractor before I had to submit my application online to be considered an applicant. Temporary to permanent placement is not guaranteed. MITRE is required to post all job applications regardless of contractor status. The entire process from submitting my resume in November until official start took about 2.5 months. Granted I was one of the first to apply when the job was posted. I spoke with several personnel from the department I was working in. Personnel from McLean, VA flew down to Bedford as part of the interviewing process. Video conferencing or phone interviewing was used as a last resort. While I was more than adequately prepared for the interviewing process it is very methodical. I give my credit for attaining the position because MITRE is truly trying to bring in a younger workforce with fresh ideas. Also, bonus points were given to skills I could leverage with another area of the department, acting as a backup go to person. The people I spoke to made the interview feel more like a conversation rather than an intimidating process.
