I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Loveland, CO) in May 2011
Interview
Applied online, received a call back quite promptly and was invited in for an interview. The interview was with the manager I wound up directly working with. Interviews are done at the store you'd be working at, by a manager that you will probably see daily once you start working. Everyone is fairly involved and very friendly. Tips for getting hired: be someone that others would enjoy working with, not just managing. Show that you're willing to go all out for the customer and are open to listening to advice on making sales. The store itself was pretty hectic and interviews can be rushed, stay relaxed and cheerful and you'll make a good impression.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you had a difficult customer and how it made you feel.
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
