Started with a standard HR screen call. HR rep was nice and cordial and very thorough but asked random questions that had zero merit to the role or to gage candidacy - I.e... if offered the role would you take it? Umm, I don’t know we’ve spoke for 10 minutes. Who’s the manager? What’s their style? Is there a fit culturally or skill wise? What’s the salary? How is anyone supposed to answer that question before understanding the scope of the role and the team they’d be working alongside.
Then came 6 zoom interviews with random people. Was never given any context to how they touched the role or what team they were on. The hiring manager was bland and dry and didn’t offer any insight. It was like he had no plan or immediate goals for the incoming person in the role. Just said we have a lot to figure out. Was disappointed as I thoroughly enjoyed half of the interviews but could tell they had no strategy or project roadmap or knew what they needed. Safe to say the league office is an exact reflection of where MLB is today. Another negative was that after 7 rounds of interviews all I received was a poorly worded canned and automated response saying they were moving on. Nothing else from HR as they completely abandoned the process after the first call. Even given that poor experience and communication I would have jumped at the opportunity. Guess I should’ve just said yes before even understanding the dynamics of the role. Oh well.
