I had applied online on May 27, 2018 and was contacted by Barbara Mercurio two days later and then phone-screened by her a week later.
Barbara was very pleasant and extremely professional during the phone interview. She went over the Mars culture, the very low turnover rate at Mars, their passion for their products which I have always admired. And obviously, she described the Executive Assistant position role supporting the CIO & CTO in Mount Olive. Barbara asked me to research the 5 Mars Principles which fervently did via Mars website and YouTube. I watched repeated videos of Valerie Mars talking about Mars.
At the conclusion of the interview, she said she wanted to schedule an interview with the Executive Coordinator TL at Mars Global Services at the Mount Olive Campus. I met with this person on June 21, 2018. We sat for 2 hours talking about the position and my responsibilities at my current employer. All the responsibilities listed for this position were everything I've already done as I have worked for top-level leaders: heavy calendar with a focus on international time zones, Visas for many countries, global meeting planning and budgeting, complicated travel logistics to Europe, South America, and Asia Pacific, Bachelor's Degree in International Business & Trade, excellent organization, written and analytical skills.
I sent an e-mail that early evening to Barbara inquiring about next steps. Unfortunately, I didn't receive an e-mail until Friday, July 27 that they were "moving forward with other candidates whose skills more closely match our requirements at this time. "
I was very disappointed and I wish I was at least given the opportunity to meet with the CIO & CTO. I'm sure they hired from within.
