I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Marshalls (Danbury, CT) in Feb 2012
Interview
I sat down with the store manager 1 on 1. Very casual. She basically just wanted to get to know me and find out what kind of person I was. There were some technical questions about my experiences on my resume but mostly she asked about skills and abilities. I am used to interviews where there are multiple people around the table judging what you are saying so compared to that, this interview was super easy and just be yourself because they are looking for genuine people that are focused on customer satisfaction. If you have a story about how you provided excellent customer service in the past make sure you tell them. The manager had mentioned how it is the one thing that is hard to teach, you either have it or you don't.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What experience do you have in retail and what has it taught you about the business.
Interview process was straight forward and easy, she did not ask that many questions. I answered all of them and was offered the job on the spot. We had 4 hours of paid training before starting my first official shift
Was given the first interview and felt good about it then went to another one and the manager there is very uninterested in the applicants. Started to ask me what role I wanted as if I had a choice and I said whatever is fine and she looked unhappy with that answer
Easy and it was very quick. It was in person and it last for fifteen minutes the interview. It was only one interview process to get hired for the job.
