I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at McCarthy Building (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2017
Interview
- I applied online through the careers section of their website, I followed this up by calling and emailing their staffing manager.
- Next step was a phone interview that lasted 15-30min and was very relaxed asking broad questions about my experience, resume, goals etc.
- Next was a series of online tests including critical thinking and personality tests.
- Finally a face to face interview with a single director that was very laid back and casual, I certainly got the sense that it was more about finding the right fitting character as opposed to trying to poke holes in your resume or asking you any technical questions. The interview really flowed organically and was a natural conversation about my experience, goals and suitability.
- I followed up with the staffing manager the next day who said there was positive feedback and next would speak to VPs and locations to find the right opening.
- I am hopeful/expecting an offer once those conversations have found a conclusion.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at McCarthy Building (Kansas City, MO)
Interview
Interviewed with the Hr specialist first. Generally it’s get to know you interview and after I interviewed with the project manager and project director for the job I was going to be on. Both meetings were virtual and hour long roughly but more of knowing who you are so brushing up on your talking and people skills.
Long and thorough. Interviewed with multiple employees. It wasn’t daunting by any means but they want to ensure you are the right fit for the company. They treated our interview group extremely well.

Interview
Interviews after campus career fair. After interview there was a long process involving 3rd party testing that seemed unnecessary. The interview itself was good. Recruiters were friendly and wanted me to do well.
