In my entire 16-year post-college career history, this is the most uncoordinated, unprofessional, unethical and worst interview/recruitment experience I have ever had from both the hiring manager and recruiter involvement. I must really say the recruitment process was very dissatisfying and disturbing, to say the least. The process was very unprofessional and unethical from the very beginning.
First, I received a calendar invite for any interview from the recruiter without confirming with me my availability and suitability of proposed time. In this instance, on the 23rd of December, 2021, I received invites from the recruiter for two separate interviews (Recruitment Screening on the 29th of December and Interview with the Hiring Manager on the 4th of January respectively) without any previous correspondence or confirmation. My wife, who is a Human Resources practitioner, was surprised that such unprofessional conduct could occur and advised that I turned down the invite but I decided only to be polite by accepting the two invites.
Second, I also recall that during the screening interview with the same recruiter at the scheduled time, she joined the call 5 minutes late with no apologies. After joining the virtual interview, she was very unprepared as she referred to a different position specification. Even after I raised the fact that it was a wrong specification, it took more than 15 minutes out of the remaining 10 minutes to figure out the position specification and my profile information. Besides, she was unable to provide answers to most of my questions.
Thirdly, the virtual interview with the hiring manager, VP Provider Strategy was very uncoordinated and lacked direction as there was no clear discussion of the profile and position specification, even though I knew I was suitably qualified for this position given my understanding of the position and being that the position being interviewed for was the hiring manager's previous position. I was quite disappointed with the interview approach and style. Even after the interview, I sent the hiring manager a courtesy thank you note which was never acknowledged or responded to. A simple and polite response would have been appropriate.
After several weeks passed without receiving any feedback on my initial interview with the Hiring Manager and next steps as mentioned by the hiring manager during my interview, I emailed both the recruiter and the hiring manager (in copy) for feedback. I never received any feedback or response even after multiple and repeated follow-ups.
