      Management Trainee Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at McMaster-Carr (Robbinsville, NJ) in Feb 2013

      Interview

They found my information via Monster.com and called me for an initial conversation. Afterwards, I spoke to a woman from what I believe was human resources in the New Jersey office. We had a brief interview where she asked about things on my resume, what I had done during college, etc. The next day I received a phone call saying they wanted me to come down to the office for a full interview. They flew me from my school and sent a driver to pick me up from the airport and take me from the airport to the office (all expenses paid). I was then interviewed by one woman who gave me a lot of behavioral questions again as well as a few directed specifically to McMaster-Carr and figuring solutions to the problems she proposed. The next leg of my interview consisted of a walking tour of the office, more questions about what I was seeing, and then another behavioral interview about my time in college and the like. It was a very laid back interview process and I was impressed with how passionate these people seemed to be about their work.

      Question 1

If there is a missing line, what would be the possible root of the problem? Why is the McMaster-Carr statistic for missing items higher than their competitors?

      Interview

The interview process was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. I really appreciated that the discussions were fully behavioral, allowing me to naturally draw on my past experiences. Furthermore, the company truly goes out of its way to treat you like a VIP throughout the entire visit, covering a remarkably nice hotel stay and providing a generous stipend to ensure you are completely comfortable.

      Interview

One behavioral interview with a recruiter and then a day-long onsite interview at the Elmhurst IL location. Superday has two behavioral interviews, walkarounds and more but feels like you're being observed everyday.
